Homeowner’s or hazard insurance is the type of property insurance that covers private homes. You must maintain homeowner’s insurance at all times, and your coverage must be at least the amount of your principal balance, and cover the cost to rebuild the home.
Proof of Insurance
You are required to provide proof of coverage. If you’ve received notice that we don’t have proof of your homeowners insurance, obtain a copy of your policy from your insurance company. Send the entire policy to the address below, or contact our Insurance department at 1-866-411-8905 for more help.

Changing Insurance Providers
If you choose, you can change insurance policies or companies. Cancelling the current policy is your responsibility. MetLife will not contact your current insurance carrier to cancel coverage. Ask your new insurance carrier to send a copy of your new policy and a letter of authorization to our Insurance Department at the address below

Insurance Bills
Some insurance providers will supply bills to both the mortgage company and the borrower. Ensure that your insurance provider is sending your bill to MetLife Home Loans at the address listed above. If they are not, send your bill to MetLife Home Loans. For any questions, please contact our Insurance department at 1-866-411-8905
Cancellation Notices
If your policy is being canceled, immediately contact our Insurance Department at 1-866-411-8905. Failure to replace a cancelled policy will result in the application of lender forced insurance coverage, which is typically more expensive.
