Chase Transfer

Frequent Asked Questions

MetLife announced in January 2012 plans to exit the mortgage business. Further agreements have been made to transfer servicing loan rights to JP Morgan Chase Bank. During this transfer the terms of your existing loan will not be affected. Your payment amount, due date and loan term will remain the same in accordance with your note and /or modification agreement.

You will receive a 'welcome letter' from Chase prior to your transfer date that will include your payment coupon for March and new loan number if changed. All payments should be made to MetLife until February 28, 2013. Beginning March 1, 2013 all payments should be made to Chase at PO Box 9001871 Louisville KY 40290-1871.

If you have authorized a monthly ACH debit of your payment, this service will transfer to Chase automatically-no action is required on your part.

If you pay your payment using MetLife’s website, you will need to enroll on www.chase.com after March 5th, 2013.

If you utilize a third party and/or online bill payment service, please contact your provider to request Chase be made the payee on your account. You will need to provide your loan number and new mailing address for third party payments as indicated on the letter Chase will send you.

If you make your payment by phone, you may also use this payment method by calling Chase at 1-800-848-9136.

If you are currently enrolled in the Equity Accelerator Program, this service will automatically transfer to Chase.

Possibly. Most customers will receive a new loan number. Chase will mail you a letter in February 2013 with details about the servicing transfer and your loan number details.

During the 60-day period following the effective date of the transfer of the loan servicing, a loan payment received by your old servicer before its due date may not be treated by the new loan servicer as late, and a late fee may not be imposed on you.

You can sign up for paperless statements beginning March 5, 2013, by visiting chase.com and choosing a paperless statement option.

If your loan is paid off on or before February 28, 2013, MetLife will process your payoff check and issue your release of lien on MetLife's behalf. If only a quote has been given but we have not received a payoff check, your loan will transfer to Chase as planned.

If you have any optional insurance coverage, services or memberships, such as accidental death, life, or disability, your policy will not transfer to Chase, and your payment amount will be reduced accordingly.

You will receive one combined Annual Statement of Interest Paid on your transferred mortgage loan. This statement will be sent by Chase and will include the interest paid to MetLife in 2013. Please print or save your previous tax information from www.metlifehomeloans.com before 11 p.m. ET on February 28, 2013.

Customer Service - Mortgage Account FAQs

A late charge may be assessed to your loan if you make your payment
after the grace period (typically the 16th business day of the month if your payment due date is the 1st of the month)  This late charge will appear on your monthly mortgage statement.

The first step in completing your escrow analysis is projecting the amount of your tax and insurance bills for the upcoming 12-month period. We calculate the minimum acceptable balance in your escrow account for the year.

If you do not have an escrow account, you are responsible for making property tax payments directly to the taxing authority. If you do not pay your property taxes, MetLife will pay the taxes to avoid a tax sale, and establish an escrow account on your loan.
